A Guide To The Ultimate Girls’ Night In

By Hannah Avison

The week is done, which means it’s time to blow off some steam. Do you head straight for happy hour at your local dive bar? Or do you maybe get some dance therapy in? While all of those options are great, sometimes the best way to end the week is with a little R&R and your BFFs. We’re talking a night of pampering, ‘cause let’s be honest—you deserve it!

The Royal Treatment

So, how do you bring the spa to your living room? It’s actually super easy! When it comes to at-home treatments, there are a multitude of options to enjoy. You’ve got facemasks, hair masks, manis, pedis…the list goes on and on. You and your girlfriends can take turns playing esthetician to add a little extra fun into the mix. When it comes to products, why not try making your own using items you probably already have in your kitchen? Once you apply that oatmeal and honey mask, there’s nothing else to do but relax and let the self-soothing sink in.

The Refreshments
The advice to treat yo’ self goes far beyond your skin and hair. What you put into your body is just as important! Since it’s a party, you want the refreshments to be yummy, but it’s also key that they provide you with the necessary, revitalizing vitamins and nutrients your body’s craving after a long week!

A go-to snack that always excites guests is sweet potato chips. Not only are these baked treats a great, healthy alternative to your more traditional potato chips, but they’re also incredibly easy to make. All you have to do is cut the sweet potato or yam into thin slices, lightly coat the veggies with olive oil, sprinkle them with sea salt, paprika and pepper, and pop them into the oven for 25 minutes at 400 degrees F. Every 10 minutes, flip the chips over so they bake evenly.

When it comes to beverages, nothing beats fresh, organic juice. The easiest way to take your favorite fruits from solid to liquid form is with a juicer. There are some great, hydrating mocktail recipes online, but sometimes it’s more fun to get creative and experiment on your own. Since juicers are super user-friendly, all you really have to do is pour your own blend into glasses and say, “Cheers!”

The Entertainment

You can’t be bored when you’re playing board games with your favorite people! Watching a movie can be a lot of fun, but an interactive experience is bound to bring the gang a little closer together. There are your old-school classics like Monopoly and Uno, but these days, games have gotten a little spicier. Cards Against Humanity is just one example of an R-rated card game that will leave you and your besties in stitches. Another great choice is Heads Up!, a fun digital game you can get on your phone for free in the app store. A night filled with these kinds of diversions is one you will all remember.

In closing, remember – no matter what you do on your chill Girls’ Night In, the most important thing to keep in mind is to have fun. Kick back, relax and cherish the moments with those you love!
